Find the insulation service your house needs
Seven insulation services for houses across Los Angeles and Ventura County. Start from what the house is doing and we will point you to the right one.
The spaces
Insulating the attic, walls and crawlspace
Heat gets in and out through the roof, the walls and the floor. These three services add insulation to each of those parts of the house.
Attic insulation
Blown-in or batt insulation laid across the attic floor, for the house that runs hot upstairs or has a thin old layer.
Wall insulation
Dense-pack insulation for finished walls in older houses, installed through small holes that are closed afterward.
Crawlspace insulation
Insulation for the floors and walls of raised foundations, for cold floors and the underside of pier-and-beam houses.
Heat and hard shapes
When the roof is the problem
Some houses need more than a layer on the attic floor. These two services work at the roof itself.
Spray foam insulation
Open-cell and closed-cell foam for roof decks, vaulted ceilings and spaces where loose insulation will not sit.
Radiant barrier
A reflective layer under the roof deck for attics that take the afternoon sun.
Old insulation
When what is already there has to go
Insulation that is wet, matted or soiled does not do its job. These two services clear it out so the attic can be insulated again.
Insulation removal
Old, compacted or contaminated insulation vacuumed out and the attic cleaned.
Rodent-damaged insulation
Droppings, nesting and soiled insulation removed from the attic, ahead of new insulation.
Not sure where to start?
Which service do I need?
What type of house insulation is best?
There is no single best type, because the right material follows from the part of the house and how it is built. Loose insulation suits an open attic floor, dense-pack suits closed walls, and spray foam suits roof decks and awkward spaces. We look at the house and explain the choices.
Which insulation service do I need?
Start with the symptom. A hot upstairs points to the attic or a radiant barrier, a cold floor to the crawlspace, and noises or droppings overhead to the cleanup services. If you cannot tell, describe what you have noticed and we will point you to the right page.
Do the services have to be done together?
No. Each one is its own job, and many houses need only one. Where they overlap, for example removal before new attic insulation, we explain the order.
Is a radiant barrier better than insulation?
They do different things. Insulation slows the movement of heat through the attic floor, while a radiant barrier reflects the heat radiated from a sunlit roof. A radiant barrier is usually added along with insulation rather than instead of it.
Is it worth it to insulate a crawl space?
Under a raised house, the crawlspace is a path for heat to leave through the floor above. Whether it pays depends on the house, so describe the floors and the foundation when you ask.
